Ferry From Athens to Mykonos to Travel Between the Islands

ItemTitle

Athens and Mykonos are two of the most important ports in Greece. Greece is made up of many islands. While some of the islands are inhabited, many are not. The islands that are inhabited are connected to one another by various means of transportation. While there are flights connecting the various islands, they are quite expensive at the same time. If people are in a hurry and need to reach a place within a limited time span, they can go by plane. Apart from the flights, ferry services are the most common ways of connecting the islands of Mykonos and Athens. Athens is the capital of Greece and has two major ports, Piraeus and Rafina. There are ferries to Mykonos from both these ports.

Many tourists prefer to take the ferries from Athens to Mykonos. As mentioned previously, there are ferries available from both the ports of Piraeus and Rafina to Mykonos on regular basis. The time taken to reach Mykonos varies depending on the port from which the ferry departs. If the ferry departs from Rafina, it takes almost three hours to complete the journey. Again if the ferry departs from Piraeus, it takes almost four to six hours to reach Mykonos. Therefore it is quite evident that the time for the ferry from Athens to Mykonos is not much.

Sometimes there are overnight ferries that operate between Athens and Mykonos. The numbers of ferries that are available between the two ports depend greatly on the time of the year. In the low and off season, the numbers of ferries that operate between the two islands are quite less when compared to the numbers of ferries that operate during the peak season. In fact, the numbers of ferries almost double during the peak tourism season so that more and more travelers can avail the services.

With the ever increasing demand of ferry from Athens to Mykonos and also between the various other Greek islands, many maritime companies have come into the picture. There are big and small companies that operate different kinds of ferries between the islands in Greece. Most of these companies have their websites and details of the different ferries. The most interesting thing is that the facility of making online bookings for the ferries is also available directly from the website of the maritime company. This is extremely useful during the peak tourism season when the demands of ferry tickets are on the rise.

Traveling via ferries was not very comfortable previously, but now the scenario has changed quite a lot. The ferries are made comfortable so that passengers can have a nice and enjoyable journey while traveling from one Greek island to another. Some of the companies also operate luxury ferry services between the various Greek islands. However, the rates of the same are higher than that of normal ferries.
